Abstract

This article intends to presentan approach to the understanding of the social and educational processes of marginalization undergone by the inhabitants of the urban territory. Therefore, the various theoretical perspectives on the urban-marginal area are described first; secondly, the concept of urban-marginal area is presented together with the most relevant issues it involves. Then, the notion of marginal urban school and its most significant problems are dealt with. Finally, the central axes of different school models developed in urban contexts are characterized and, in particular, those developed in urban-marginal schools.
