Abstract

This paper is an adaptation of the final work done for the Specialization in Higher Education at the National University of San Luis. It attempts to provide a description and analysis of the meanings that the evaluation of learning has recently acquired. Along with this, it also addresses the controversy that has developed around practices of evaluation in the field of higher education. In this sense, evaluation is an activity inscribed in the teaching and learning processes, and allows for constant feedback between the different educational actors. Within it, the evaluation of learning is considered a problematic process, which takes different meanings according to the adopted theoretical framework, a process of complex solution and therefore the result of disputes. However, there is interest in reflecting on the issue in order to improve evaluation practices.
