Abstract

This work originated within the frame of different training processes related to evaluation in education, which were carried out with teachers of this province. It constitutes an contribution that seeks to nurture the debate on the conceptual and methodological inquiry into student learning and to guide the teacher's evaluative role. The assessment of learning is, undoubtedly, the oldest activity recorded in the history of educational assessment; however, there has been very little discussion on this problem at school. The evaluation processes that take place in the classroom do not always “serve” learning, and do not necessarily arise as a result of a careful pedagogic reflection. This paper offers some ideas to reflect on an essential moment of evaluation: planning of the process, the moment in which the evaluator makes key decisions that will inevitably impact the learner’s performance.
