Student Desertion in the Initial Stage of Academic Formation in Educational Sciences (FCH-UNSL)

This work deals with the problem of student desertionin the initial stage of the Educational Sciences programs at the National University of San Luis, Argentina, from the perspective of the actors involved: current students and former students (dropouts). The work was carried out within the framework of the subject Nivel IV de Praxis: Research Practice. The purpose was to know how the different actors from the National University of San Luis perceived university student desertion in the initial stage of the Educational Sciences programs. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. The focus was placed on the representation of desertion from the actors perspective, the reasons for dropping out and the institutional and teacher action when facing the problem.
