The present article reports the results of the work done by the Grupo de Educación Popular “Minga” (Popular Education Group “Minga”), developed by the extension Project “El derecho a la niñez, el derecho a la maternidad-paternidad en sectores populares: prácticas políticas que construyen puentes”. The experience was carried out in a toy library settled in the Comedor Madre Teresa de Calcuta, located in Barrio Sargento Cabral, in the city of San Luis. The group has been working on this project since 2013 with the aim of co-constructing a space which helped meet the educational-recreational needs of a population of children aged two to five. It is important to emphasize that the State does not guarantee the access and permanence in educational institutions and recreational spaces, disregarding the rights of children from popular sectors. Therefore, we consider that this work may constitute a space where the role of play in these social sectors may be re-valued.
