Abstract

The game plays a central role in human development and has been a key activity for children in all historical periods. Of great importance to the emotional life and relationship with the other, in turn offers children endless possibilities for learning and to develop and express their childhood fantasies. Among the theories that have been taken to investigate the role of play in child psyche, the two most important contributions are those of Piaget and Freud. Two different perspectives that are needed to know about the implications that both have in clinical and education.
