Abstract

This work analyses the different possibilities for deaf people of integration/inclusion in the educational system. This analysis is carried out on the basis that the national legislation related to integration/inclusion and the International Convention on the Rights of Disabled People consider that the State must guarantee the necessary adjustments, support and adaptations for disabled people to have access to all the levels of the educational system in order to ensure their learning, regardless of their particular characteristics. It is assumed that deaf people constitute a population whose main feature is heterogeneity, on which the supports and adaptations addressing the particular differences will depend. The tools from the educational system together with the rules from the Federal Council of Education constitute a support configuration which might allow carrying forward the inclusion processes of deaf people in the  common school.
