Abstract

This research presents the discursive analysis of a corpus of Julio Dominguez’s, “El Bardino", poems published in Cancionero de los Ríos(2006), whose constant motive refers to the theme of drought in the pampa's west and the subsequent claims and effects. It presents a Socio-semiotics perspective from the Language Sciences frame, which means the study of the language in use, in concrete, real situations of interaction and social circulation, together with the contributions of the local historical studies to contextualize the problematic presented. A short review of the hydric conflict between La Pampa and Mendoza and the development of the so called “Pampean cultural movement” is included because of its influence on the writing of the Cancionero de los Ríos, highlighting Dominguez's contribution to the pampean cultural identity. Finally, the theoretical frame is developed and the proposed corpus is analyzed. The results show that the analyzed poems represent a symbolic construction of struggle, which embraces all the social imaginary in the history of La Pampa.
