Abstract

The unexpected appearance of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in 2020 generated a pandemic situation worldwide that caused great harm to education at every level, affecting particularly the teaching modality, the working methodology and the relationships between teachers and students and between students themselves. At the university level, teachers and students had to assimilate new ways of teaching and learning, acquire new teaching and learning tools and familiarize and get used to new modes of virtual relationships, in order to guarantee the right to higher education. This work aims at reporting the development of a new online English course for the Licenciatura en Enfermeríain the Facultad de Ciencias de la Saludat Universidad Nacional de San Luis, considering the teaching experience of 2020 and the process experienced by the teachers when designing the proposal. Taking into account some identified problematic dimensions and with the concepts of education and virtuality, virtual classroom, content curation, virtual class and evaluation in virtual contexts as theoretical basis, we designed a new course optimizing the available technological tools to make them functional for the course aims and to promote critical thinking, reflection, autonomy, and personal and professional growth for both students and teachers.
