Abstract

The interpretation of culture as a complex social phenomenon and as the pedagogical professional culture constitutes an expression of the behavior of social subjects with a marked humanistic formation. Furthermore, as an identity phenomenon, it is a principle that supports the praxiological heuristics of this research. This study seeks to characterize the situation of identity and professional pedagogical culture in students of pedagogical programs at the Universidad de Oriente. The analysis was conducted through empirical instruments and techniques, such as: surveys and interviews highlighting the main contradictions that arise in the process and the challenges derived from facing these problems. It was also performed through the elaboration of a methodological orientation material that contributed to give answers and solutions -with the help of theories and cultural and pedagogical conceptions -to the professional challenges attributed to the Pedagogical Sciences in terms ofprofessional orientation. The application of this material made it possible to achieve qualitative and quantitative transformations in the subjects during the process of acquisition of the pedagogical culture and the professional identity. This was evidenced by their enhanced research results in terms of academic, labor, and extensionist components, as well as by their professional ways of acting.
