Research policies and research training in the Facultad de Ciencias Humanas (Universidad Nacional de San Luis): proposals and challenges

Abstract

The aim of this work is to present the current research situation in the Facultad de Ciencias Humanas (FCH) at the Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL) taking into account the results obtained from several instances of debate and experiences carried out during the period 2013-2015. The article is organized into five sections: 1) structural obstacles in research training; 2) outcome from the Primera Jornada de Encuentro de Docentes, Investigadores, Estudiantes y Graduados in the FCH (2013); 3) description of the current research situation, emphasizing some challenging dimensions; 4) outcome from the Segunda Jornada de Investigación in the FCH (2015); and 5) current actions promoted by Secretaría de Ciencia y Técnica and other offices in the FCH, which aim at strengthening the research activity. By presenting the academic community with information for reflection and discussion, we intend to put forward the current research policies and research training in this particular area, thus reaffirming the relevant position of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the university level.
